FAQ
- Refunds? - no, sorry. This is a benefit for a great trails organization. Consider it a donation towards a great cause. Send me and email and I can rollover your registration if you can give me a good story.
- Cups at the Aid Stations? - No, we're going cupless. We suggest you carry at least a small handheld water bottle. If you really don't want to, purchase a collapsible running cup at RVR during packet pickup.
- Where is the start of the race? - it'll be in front of Skout restaurant at the base of Lithia Park on Winburn Way next to the beautiful mural at the start of Guanajuato Way.
- Can we continue if we miss the cutoff? - yes, but if you do, you are no longer in the race and know that you are on your own. Take a few extra food/water from that aid station.
- Will there be snow? - Maybe. I'll keep you posted, but hiking on snow isn't a big deal in June.
- Poles? - You are allowed to use hiking poles for any section of the race, but I'd suggest putting one in your drop bag as you probably won't need it until the last section. We'll have some lost and found poles from the ski area at the start of the last section for you to use.
- Are there restrooms on the course? - Not unless you count the big outdoors. NOT THAT WE'RE SUGGESTING THAT. It is too difficult to get Portapotties in remote locations, through closed gates, bumpy dirt roads, etc. There are restrooms at the Mt Ashland Lodge.
- Are there restrooms at the finish? - Yes, there are restrooms at the Mt Ashland Lodge. Not at the actual finish at the summit. You'll have to hike back down after you finish to use the restroom.
- Where should we park for the race? - It's best to get dropped off by someone for the start. If you have to park, we recommend the parking structure on Hargadine St adjacent to the OSF campus which is 2$ to park for all day parking from 6 am to 6 pm. There is on street parking near by, but most parking spots downtown has a 2 hr limit. Here's a good downtown Public Parking map
- Will there be shuttles? - Maybe, we only had a handful of folks use it the last few years. If you need a ride down, come find me and I can make announcements to get you a ride down.
- Drop bag? - yes, but please limit your bag size. Just toss in a change of clothes and some warm layers. We'll have it at the lodge by the time you finish.
- Day of registration? - Yes. Cash only and please show up early. ($100/$50 for Adult/Youth)
- Categories? - We'll have age group and gender categories which will be determined by the entrants (I like to have at least 5 entries per category). We'll make this up the day before. In general, we'll have it by sex and age group (under 14, under 18, over 40, over 50, over 60)
- What kind of bike can I use? - Up to you. I suggest a light XC mtn bike so you can enjoy the singletrack on your way back down, but feel free to use your gravel bike.
- Will the course be well marked? - You betcha!
